Having being part of the prestigious AHA Theatre Festival at Ranga Shankara, I learned the basics of body movements, speech and drama. I also learned the technicalities involved in producing a play, such as lights, SFX, markings on the stage. We explored the backstage which included the green room, prop room, light and sound area. This festival culminated into our performance on the Ranga Shankara stage where I played the clown.

My Role

During this festival, besides playing the clown, I was also entrusted with an important role to explain the backstage, ther theatrical equipment and their roles to the audience. This is the stage where I performed improv skits and entertained the audience. Here is where I learnt the importance of comic timing, improvisation and how to hold the audience's attention.

My Experience

Ranga Shankara, this name rings a bell deep within me. This is a theatre space owned and managed by famous theatre and film personalities Mr. Girish Karnad and Mrs. Arundhati Nag. This is the place from where I started my theatre journey, first as an audience and then as a student of art and drama. I played a clown, my job was to entertain, make people laugh and keep the audience engaged in our improv antics.
